Winning The War on War – a FEED Event

Our first FEED event for Futurity was with Professor Joshua Goldstein, Professor Emeritus of International Relations, American University (Washington, DC) and Research Scholar, University of Massachusetts. In the talk recorded below, Professor Goldstein explains his thesis that we are living in a more peaceful age – that war is in decline across the board: tanks wars, inter-state wars, and civil wars, amongst others. Much of this is due to technological advances, just as in Futurity.

(Speaking of technology – we had some wobbles with this recording and so apologies for them, but we want to share the talk anyways as Professor Goldstein’s ideas are so compelling!)

Professor Joshua S. Goldstein is an interdisciplinary scholar of war and society, and author of the widely used textbook International Relations (with Jon C. Pevehouse). Goldstein’s bookWar and Gender: How Gender Shapes the War System and Vice Versa (Cambridge, 2001) won the International Studies Association’s “Book of the Decade” award.
