In light of evolving COVID-19 concerns and restrictions, we are postponing our Spring Fête honoring the Vilcek Foundation and Rick Kinsel scheduled for April 20, 2020.
As a theater company, our entire purpose is to bring people together through shared experiences. At Soho Rep., we are particularly interested in the civic nature of our art form. Thus, we were especially excited to honor the Vilcek Foundation and its President Rick Kinsel and to highlight the values that Soho Rep. and the foundation share.
The Vilcek Foundation raises awareness of immigrant contributions in the United States, and since 2000 they have awarded over $5M in grants and $5M in prizes to honor and support the diversity of contributions that immigrants make to arts, culture and society in the United States. They are also the lead sponsor of Soho Rep.’s Studio Program, which provides theater-makers with significant commissions, and upfront commitment to produce the commissioned works, and weeklong workshops that bring new works palpably closer to production readiness. We are sad that we cannot bring people together at this time to celebrate the impact the Vilcek Foundation has had at our theater and across the country. However, the Vilcek Foundation continues to be an incredible partner and we are very much looking forward to celebrating them on a future date.
At this time, we are particularly grateful for our community, and the generosity of our donors and supporters. Though our theaters are dark right now, your light sustains us.
