Congratulations to 2006/2007 Lab Alum Annie Baker, whose play The Flick has been awarded the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and to 2007/2008 Lab Alum Madeleine George, whose play The (Curious Case of the) Watson Intelligence was also nominated.

MADELEINE GEORGE‘s plays, including The (Curious Case of the) Watson Intelligence, Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England, Precious Little, and The Zero Hour, have been produced at theaters around the country. She was a founding member of the Obie-winning playwrights’ collective 13P (Thirteen Playwrights, Inc.), and is a resident playwright at New Dramatists. Her two novels are published by Viking Children’s Books. Her first book, Looks, was one of Booklist’s 2008 Top Ten First Novels for Youth, and a 2009 ALA Best Book for Young Adults. Her second book, The Difference Between You and Me, was a Kirkus Best Teen Book of 2012, a Junior Library Guild selection and an ALA Rainbow List selection, and was chosen as the Atlantic Wire’s Best Complicated Romance of 2012.
ANNIE BAKER‘s full-length plays include Circle Mirror Transformation (Playwrights Horizons, OBIE Award for Best New American Play, Drama Desk nomination for Best Play), The Aliens (Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, OBIE Award for Best New American Play), and Body Awareness (Atlantic Theater Company, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations for Best Play/Emerging Playwright). Her plays have also been produced regionally by South Coast Rep, Guthrie Theater, Victory Gardens, Artists Rep, Huntington Theatre Company, Seattle Rep, Studio Theatre in DC, Hyde Park Theatre, Kansas City Rep, and San Francisco Playhouse, and have been produced internationally in London, Melbourne, Sydney, and Buenos Aires. Annie is a member of New Dramatists, MCC’s Playwrights Coalition and EST, and she is an alumna of Youngblood, Ars Nova’s Play Group and the Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab. Her adaptation of Uncle Vanya had its world premiere at Soho Rep in June 2012.
