We conclude our FEED series “Experts on…WINNERS AND LOSERS” with the most terrific pairing: Ann Pelligrini (Professor of Social and Cultural Analysis, Performance Studies Director, Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality at NYU) and the playwright Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas (Bard College) looking at WINNERS AND LOSERS through the lens of queer theory, gender politics, ethnic studies, feminism and capitalism. It’s dazzlingly smart stuff and a fitting end to this eye-opening series.
Ann Pelligrini (New York University) is Professor of Performance Studies and Social and Cultural Analysis at New York University and has directed the Center for Sexuality and Gender Studies since 2008.
Playwright Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas’ awards include fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York Foundation for the Arts; as well as the Helen Merrill Award and the Robert Chesley Award. His play Blind Mouth Singing completed runs at Chicago’s Teatro Vista and the New York-based National Asian American Theatre Company (NAATCO).
