Our look at the off-stage theatrical professions continued with an eclectic panel focusing on people whose jobs help to make the theatrical production – and the audiences’ experience at the theater – as good as it can be. Anne Washburn interviewed Faye Armon-Troncoso (Props Supervisor), Amanda Miller (Hair & Makeup Designer), Michael Cyril Creighton (former Box Office Manager, Playwrights Horizons), and TJ D’Angelo (Senior Usher, Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theater).

MICHAEL CYRIL CREIGHTON is an actor/writer and the former Box Office Manager (of almost 8 years) at Playwrights Horizons (as well as shorter box office gigs at Classic Stage, Jean Cocteau Rep and Drama Dept.) While working at Playwrights, he wrote & starred in the fictional web series “Jack in a Box” about a frustrated actor working in a box office & later won a Writers Guild Award for that series. After leaving the box, he returned to Playwrights as an actor in Sarah Ruhl’s Stage Kiss (Outer Critics Circle Nom). Other work includes: 4 shows with The Debate Society (Blood Play, Buddy Cop 2, You’re Welcome & Cape Disappointment), various TV shows and a supporting role in Tom McCarthy’s upcoming film Spotlight opposite Rachel McAdams.
TJ D’ANGELO (Senior Usher, Jujamcyn Theatres) TJ has worked on Broadway as an usher for Jujamcyn theaters for 13 years and has been the head usher at the Walter Kerr for 4 years. He has done many front-of-house positions including ticket taker and stage doorman. TJ is also an actor and director with many theatre credits.
AMANDA MILLER (Wig, Hair and Makeup Designer) creates custom wigs, hairpieces, facial hair, and hair extensions on commission from her TriBeCa wigshop. Offering full concept design in wigs, hair, and makeup for theater, television, film productions, and red carpet events, Amanda’s theater credits include LEar, Uncle Vanya and Marie Antoinette for Soho Rep., Roundabout Theater Company’s Cyrano de Bergerac on Broadway, Happy Hour and The Threepenny Opera for Atlantic Theater Company. Television: Baz Luhrmann’s new series for netflix, The Get Down, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Happyish, The Good Wife, Homeland, The Following, Damages, Blue Bloods, Saturday Night Live, Unforgettable, Orange is the New Black, and Boardwalk Empire.
