This FEED post-show chat for Anne Washburn’s 10 out of 12 centered on the job of a Stage Manager. Central to any production – and dramatized in Anne’s play – we were joined by three fantastic Production Stage Managers: Amanda Spooner (10 out of 12‘s PSM), Matthew Melchiorre (Light in the Piazza, Coram Boy) and Chuck Turner (the recent Broadway revival of Wendy Wasserstein’s The Heidi Chronicles). The talk ranged from why they do what they do, when they decide it was the work they wanted to do, and what keeps them excited about Stage Management.
The thirty-minute chat was beautifully and ably moderated by Anne Washburn herself.

AMANDA SPOONER (Production Stage Manager) is actually living the dream. She loves being a Stage Manager more than anything in the world and she gets to do it at Soho Rep. – the theatre where her heart belongs and where she’s had the honor of stage-managing Marie Antoinette and An Octoroon. And now she’s doing a play about tech rehearsals at this marvelous theatre. A PLAY ABOUT TECH REHEARSALS. Amanda is going to let that sink in while she thanks her wonderful husband, her perfect family, her incredible life partner “Chalup”, and the whole theatrical community that has, for whatever reason, accepted her as a member of the tribe. Thank you, Sarah. Thank you, Cynthia. This might be heaven.
